Dacor oven ECS127 no heat, Repiar – Hillborough, CA

The customer has a Dacor built-in oven. Initial problem was that Dacor oven ECS127 no heat. I showed up during the appointment window and start troubleshooting the unit. The customer thought that the problem was bake element which they already replaced in the past.

Here are the steps which I follow during troubleshooting this unit:

First I start by testing the bake element. I unscrew mounting screws and carefully removed bake element. I test it for resistance and it was OK.

Second I isolate the wires which are coming on the bake element and turn the unit ON. I measured the electrical power coming on the wires. One wire had 110V, but the second one was Zero.

Third I test if the limit thermostat is OK. Because sometimes it just overheats and cut the electrical circuit to bake element. This time limit thermostat was OK.

Fourth, for that moment I already knew that the problem was on the control board. Because I tested all the components which are involved in producing the heat in the oven and they passed all tests.

Fifth I removed the unit from the cabinet. I unscrewed the top cover and removed it. This gave me the access to the control board. I disconnect the control board from wiring and inspect it. The was burn out electrical line to the bake relay.

Finally, after getting the permission from the customer to replace the board I swap the old defective one with the new control board. I installed all the components back to the unit and mounted it to the cabinet.

Another happy customer!
