We received the call from the customer located in Hayward, CA. He has Outside built-in grill. The initial problem was Wolf BBQ Grill OG42 no ignition. Also, the customer did not have the power adapter for his rotisserie motor.
I started troubleshooting the appliance. I tested the gas supply line which was OK. Also, the power outlet was suppling with 110V. So this means that the problem is inside the Wolf Grill itself.
Wolf used to use ignition using spark modules and generated sparks from them. With these Wolf OG BBQ Grill series, the come up with the different approach and have gloving little ignitors as the heating element for igniting the gas. But because of the little size of these igniters, Wolf can’t use 110V. So they have to transform AC voltage from the outlet to DC and decrease the amount of voltage. For that purpose, they install an AC/DC transformer for Outside Wolf BBQ Grill units. As all transformers at some point, they go bad. Thanks to Wolf company they predict that and don’t install them inside the appliance. They make transformer assembly as an external component of Wolf BBQ Grills for OG42 series.
I made the decision to replace the transformer assembly for this Wolf BBQ Grill OG42 unit. Unfortunately, Wolf doesn’t sell separately power adapter for rotisserie. And I had to order rotisserie assembly which comes with motor, power adapter, and power cord.
After getting all necessary components for repairing Wolf BBQ Grill OG42 ignition I set up the appointment with the customer.
First I connected the new power adapter to the rotisserie and test it. Worked OK for me so minus one problem from the list. Now the client has spare rotisserie motor for the future.
Second, transformer assembly located under the Wolf BBQ Grill OG42 unit so techs like me have good accessibility to this component. I took me 20 minutes to replace the old one with a new transformer assembly.
Finally, I conducted all necessary tests for Wolf BBQ Grill OG42 unit to make sure that every function is working properly.
